Proposition 50 threatens Kern County’s representation, our agricultural economy, and the integrity of fair elections. Across California, cities such as Fresno, Madera, and Clovis have already taken a stand. Bakersfield has not.
Proposition 50 would replace voter-approved district lines with maps drawn by Sacramento insiders, silencing local voices and weakening the industries that keep our region strong. This is not about partisanship. It is about accountability and fairness.
We, the undersigned residents of Bakersfield, call on the City Council to call a special meeting of the Council and vote to oppose Proposition 50 and defend fair representation for our city. Bakersfield belongs to its residents, not to those who treat public power as personal property.
